Reservation Policy for Admission
Mata Sita Sunder College of Education (MSSCE) strictly adheres to the reservation policy prescribed by the **State Government of Bihar** and its affiliating universities/board (B.R.A. Bihar University and Bihar School Examination Board).
The policy ensures adequate representation for various disadvantaged social and economic groups in admissions to all programs offered by the college, as per the relevant State Reservation Acts and their amendments. This policy applies to the total sanctioned intake in each course.
Category-wise Reservation Quota
The total seats are divided into two primary categories: Open Merit (50%) and Reserved Category (50%), with the following distribution:

Reservation for Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
- **10%** seats are reserved for the **Economically Weaker Section (EWS)** of the General Category, as mandated by the State Government of Bihar and the Central Government.
- This reservation is provided from the **Unreserved/Open Merit Category**.
Special & Horizontal Reservations
In addition to the vertical reservation categories above, the following horizontal reservations are also implemented as per State Government rules:
- **Disabled Quota (PwD):** Specific percentage of seats (typically 3-5%) are reserved horizontally across all categories for Persons with Disabilities.
- **Soldiers/Freedom Fighters Quota:** Reservation for the dependents of ex-servicemen/freedom fighters may also be applied based on government notifications.
General Rules
- **Open Merit:** A reserved category candidate selected on the basis of their merit shall be counted against the **Open Merit Category** vacancies and not against the reserved category quota.
- **Documentation:** Candidates claiming reservation must produce valid and current caste/category certificates issued by the competent authority of the State Government of Bihar at the time of admission and counseling. Failure to do so will result in their candidature being considered under the General Category.
- **Inter-Category Exchange:** Provisions for the exchange of unfilled seats between SC and ST, or EBC and BC candidates, may be exercised as per the prevailing Bihar Reservation Act rules to ensure maximum seat utilization.
